10 Rue Cronstadt is a century old four storey building, with ancient cream shutters covering modern double-glazed windows. It is a building of large apartments, with a doctor and a men's couturier on the ground floor. In the foyer, a marble staircase winds around an ancient, tiny cage lift.
Our first floor apartment is owned by an Irish family, who visit often from Dublin. The apartment is huge, with large windows, Belle Époque furnishing and sleek minimalist kitchen. The walls and trim are cream and white, the floor a blond parquet. In the lounge room, two huge settees are in constant use.
It is an elegant, relaxing place to rest and regroup after our touring. People grab a lounge and their device and retreat for awhile to have some quiet time and rest the pegs. There is scrabble, take two and monopoly. And the occasional blog.
