Art for art's sake

Always ready to give a city a second try, we railed to Rotterdam Vridag. Hugh has a cold so stayed home from school. He felt ok to travel and that proved to be the case.We went to the Museum Biojmans Van Beuningen (that museum in Rotterdam), a pleasant canal walk of ten minutes after twenty on the intercity. Easy.
It is a splendid museum, large, well laid out, quiet and well-hung. Hugh took a lot of interest in the paitings and was especially taken by the impressionists and by a spectacular dutch realist painting by Hendrik Voogd of a boy cowherd defending his bull from a wolf. The impression left by the impressionist is reflected in 'hugh;s impression of bridge on the river Maas below.

Caity and Hugh have enjoyed book week at the Statenschool, which has included writing and illustrating a poem - Caity with the well-travelled (although this is a first trip to Europe) Jai Lin the syuffed panda and Hugh with the new but much-loved Ronaldog, a stuffed dog named after Ronaldino (the soccer player). Yes they are large stuffed toys and yes they do take up a lot of room in the suitcases.
The heraldic work is Caity's - done while her less fortunate year 7/8s at Statenschool had a test.

Jai Lin hangs out
